Kimi Hasegawa, MS, PT
Core Movement Integration Certified Practitioner
In 1990 Kimi and her family left their owner built home in Vermont so that she could attend the physical therapy program at Duke University in Durham, NC. After earning an entry level MS in Physical Therapy in 1993, Kimi returned to Vermont to practice at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) for 19 years. There, in addition to working as a staff P.T., Kimi was the P.T. for its pulmonary rehabilitation program. In this capacity she undertook a research study comparing the results of different lengths of pulmonary rehab programs. The results of this study were published in the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal in 2005.
Kimi began studying Core Movement Integration (CMI) with Dr. Josef DellaGrotte in 2001 and received her certification in 2004. She began teaching CMI classes and wrote and published the Core Integration Primer, an instruction booklet for beginning CMI students. She is an active member of the CMI practitioners group and is currently revising CMI teaching materials.
In January 2013, Kimi left BMH to begin her independent practice, Core Integration Vermont PLLC, in Brattleboro. She now offers both CMI classes and individual physical therapy treatments.
Before becoming a physical therapist, Kimi was a flute teacher and freelance flutist. She was a founding faculty member of the Brattleboro Music Center’s Music School. She continues to be a serious amateur classical flutist, playing flute with the Windham Orchestra in Brattleboro and the Variable Winds woodwind quintet. Kimi is also active in the management of the Windham Orchestra.
